Municipal solid waste refers to the waste materials that are discarded by man in his dayto-day activities. These waste materials comprise of garbage or trash and include materials such
as clothing, food scraps, packaging materials, grass clippings, batteries, and furniture generated
from homes, hospitals, learning institutions and work places. Noteworthy, municipal solid waste
does involve industrial, mining or agricultural wastes and are separately handled as they can
