Introduction
The strategies I found to be most useful to me and my colleagues were ‘the importance of
rhyme’ and ‘what is Phonological awareness and why is it important’. Rhyming primarily
educates children on how language basically works. It helps them identify sounds within words.
Rhyming is important to children as it helps them practice language rhythm and helps them make
predictions when reading a very important skill in reading. On the other hand, phonological
awareness refers to the capability to identify, hear, as well as manipulate sound structures that
are located within a sound. Phonological awareness is very vital to children as it forms the
foundation for reading. Phonological skills are vital to children and without them; children may
develop reading difficulties in early years. A child with strong phonological skills will bear a
