Psychological tests are used to emphasize on information collected during the
assessment. The federal laws guided forensic psychologists and expected to act in particular
ways by APA set standards. Additionally, there are statutory and case laws that govern
psychological tests. Psychological evaluations in a legal setting are used to determine
competency to stand trial, custodian of a child, civil and family laws. Forensic psychologists
should be aware of specific psychological tests, instruments and their administration to avoid
