Example Introduction:
"CSR stands for The Cognitive Science of Religion. This relatively new approach analyzes how people think in order to explain religion scientifically. CSR demonstrates how different components of humanity, such as evolution, cognition, brain, and culture, combine to explain where religion comes from and why it continues in similar forms throughout different parts of the world. In this essay, I will argue that the greatest contribution that CSR makes is by providing scientific evidence that the human mind, in addition to culture, shapes how people perceive God and other supernatural entities around the world."
Example conclusion:
"I have shown that CSR can lead to outstanding contributions to the study of religion through a scientific understanding of how people perceive the natural world. While the field is still developing, and more research needs to continue to strengthen the field, CSR contributes significantly to religious studies through a better understanding of how the nature of the world is perceived religiously, and from a scientific perspective. CSR also illustrates why people believe what they believe. This contribution to the field of religion matters greatly because presently it is widely believed that our country is divided more than we have ever seen in recent history in terms of issues spanning across science, the economy, diversity, and overall values. Indeed, this divide is very clear to see, and learning how to understand one another is an essential step toward healing and bridging gaps that persist among different communities, to close this divide. One way we can bring together these groups is through the study of religion. We can understand why people believe what they believe and understand the evidence and science of others' thoughts and values through CSR. Perhaps with the help of the empirical evidence in CSR, we will slowly come together and create a more compassionate society through understanding religion and one another.
