Rectangle has dimensions of 6 and 4

Area of rectangle = L * W                  <L is length and W is width>

                             = 6 * 4

                              = 20

Rectangle's area is 20 square units

Perimeter of rectangle = 2L + 2W

                                     = 2(6) + 2(4)

                                     = 12 + 8

                                      = 20

                Rectangle's perimeter is 20 units

If we cut a triangle as shown from the rectangle and move it to the left to form our parallelogram, the parallelogram's base would be 6, its height would be 4, and the side dimensions would be 6 and 5

Area of parallelogram = B x H                 <B is the base, H is the height>

                                   =  6 x 4

                                   = 24

Parallelogram's area is 24 square units

Perimeter of parallelogram = 2L + 2W       <We can use the rectangle perimeter formula to find the parallelogram's

perimeter.  Be sure to watch the parallelogram's sides>

                                             = 2(6) + 2(5)

                                            = 12 + 10

                                            = 22

               Parallelogram's perimeter is 22 units
