Who was Martin Luther and why did he speak out against the Catholic Church in the 1500s?

Oct 22nd, 2017

Martin Luther was a monk who resided in Germany in the early 1500's. He strongly believed in Christianity, and also was a member of the Catholic Church. He devoted his whole life to his religion and promised to himself that he will never get married and will regularly, and will fast to prove his faith in God. He studied Bible and extend its teachings to other people in his town.

The Catholic Church has belief and faith that good works will take you into heaven. Luther clearly disagreed. He also didn't like the selling of pleasures.
