“We find a model for learning how to live in stories about heroism. The heroic quest is about saying yes to yourself and, in so doing, becoming more fully alive and more effective in the world. For the hero’s journey is first about taking a journey to find the treasure of your true self, and then about returning home to give your gift to help transform the kingdom-and, in the process, your own life. The quest itself is replete with dangers and pitfalls, but it offers great rewards: the capacity to be successful in the world, knowledge of the mysteries of the human soul, the opportunity to find and express your unique gifts in the world, and to live in loving community with other people. The hero’s journey is first about taking a journey to find the treasure of your true self.”

Go over the Hero/Heroine's journey in your mind-what were the impactful moments of the guided meditation/active imagination exercise we did in class? What strengths are coming up as useful tools for you to walk your journey?

Did you notice any shifts?

Here are some of the questions from the final assignment that may be helpful to you:

What was your journey like?

If you were the hero/heroine in this how would the story unfold?

Think of a movie/movie series-a) The Matrix b) Lord of The Rings c)Harry Potter or d) a movie of your choice that has a clear hero/heroine with a mythical journey. Compare your journey to an unfolding of awareness and/or understanding. How are you different or similar to the hero/heroine of your choice?

How do you bring in your understanding of yourself from Personality and Motivation?

The Journey Outline

The purpose of my journey was to unlock my potential and make myself a better person
eventually.
My journey was filled with ups and downs in restructuring my life at the time. In
particular, the process involved breaking bad habits and exiting toxic relationships.
Furthermore, it involved boosting my self-esteem and appreciating my whole self.
If I were a hero in the journey, the story's events would begin with the quest to find a
sacred object to ensure the reclamation of the Kingdom's prosperity. The Kingdom in the
story would symbolize me, and its prosperity would symbolize my success.
I am similar to Wil Ohmsford from The Shannara Chronicles in several ways, including
the fact that we are the people that determine our fate.
While Wil is supposed to kill the Warlock Lord with the Sword of Shannara, I am
supposed to restructure my life with the tools acquired from the archetypes
Personality and Motivation make me consider myself a perfectionist. Contrary to the
class teachings, I feel that my quest for perfection is what would bring me to find my true
self...
