Question Description

For this assignment (approx 600-700 words), choose either one of the major festivals (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Pesach or Shavuot) or the traditional observance of dietary restrictions (kashrut) and explain in your own words how and why traditional Jews keep the mitzvot (commands) associated with this observance. Your essay should include the historical/biblical background for this observance, the main requirements for fulfilling the observance and, importantly, the overall purposes or benefits associated with observing this sacred practice. Conclude with some critical reflections about how Jewish practices are related to central beliefs about God and one's relationship with God.

Be clear about which holiday/observance you are discussing and remain focused on whichever one you choose.

Use at least one reliable source in addition to the IWR textbook and document your source(s) by using the APA format (cite the author and page number or website address in parentheses at the end of a sentence or paragraph and then provide full documentation of the source at the end of the essay).

Tutor went the extra mile to help me with this essay. Citations were a bit shaky but I appreciated how well he handled APA styles and how ok he was to change them even though I didnt specify. Got a B+ which is believable and acceptable.
