I need to create an equation, and solve to determine how many students can go.

Suppose some fixed amount is contributed by the school, let it be x.

Now a definite amount y is taken from all students, suppose their rae n students hence total amount = ny

Let the total fund raised by P.

Then,

P = x + ny

This is the required solution !

I think I have to include the values that I was given in the problem, because I need an exact number of students

Please inclde the values and I will provide you solution within 10 minutes.

Please make it a paid question of 1 dollar rather than a prepaid question.

I guess it didn't post the whole question.

The LaSalle High School senior class raised funds for an end of the year cruise getaway. The city gave them a special package for the port fees and taxes - a flat fee of \$1,500 for the entire class's port fees and taxes. It costs \$367 per student to board the cruise. If your class raised \$16,600, how many students can attend?

Mar 28th, 2015

Flat Fees + number of students x per student collection = total collection

1500 + n x 367 = 16600

n x 367 = 16600 - 1500

n x 367 = 15100

n = 15100/367

n = 41.14

Clearly only 41 students will be able to go !!!
