use intercepts to graph the equation 3x+4y+12=0

Mar 29th, 2015

If y = 0, then 3x + 12 = 0,  3x = -12, and x = -4. The x-intercept is (-4, 0).

If x = 0, then 4y + 12 = 0, 4y = -12, and y = -3. The y-intercept is (0, -3).

Connecting these two points with a straight line we get the graph of the equation 3x + 4y = 12.
