The cost of 1 cherry pie + 1 blueberry pie equals $22. 7 cherry pies plus 6 bluberry pies equals $140.  How much is each pie cherry an blueberry?

Oct 19th, 2017

let cost of cherry pie be x and blueberry be y
so, x + y = 22
and 7x + 6y =140

from first equation x = 22 -y
plugging the value of x in the second equation we get

7(22-y) +6y = 140
154 - 7y +6y = 140
-y = -14
y = 14

and x = 22-14 = 8

so, cost of each cherry pie is $8 and cost of each blueberry is $8

Thanks :)
