While helping a patient, Sarah, the other front office assistant calls Justin over to answer questions regarding the patient intake process. Justin explains the process to Sarah and then continues to work with the patient at his window. Later that day Justin is frustrated that he had to stop working with his patient to explain a process to Sarah that he has explained a dozen times already. Justin takes to social media to express his frustrations with Sarah and her inability to take care of patients properly even though she has been trained.

Thanks, Sean

Write a 175- to 260-word response to the following prompts:

Based on your discussion above, do you perceive Sean’s tone to be appropriate or inappropriate?

As a manager, if you had an employee approach you about their discomfort over the tone of the email, explain how you would address the use of capitalization in an email.

Scenario 3:

Robert is an older patient checking in at the window of his local retail health clinic. The office assistant is taking his insurance card and asking a couple of follow up questions. Robert asked the assistant to speak up because of some background noise. The assistant starts to speak slower and enunciates her words instead of speaking louder.

COMMUNICATION

2

Communication is important in every business setting. To carry out processes effectively,
there must be proper channels of communication. This enhances the way employees relate to
each other as well as employer-employee relationship. This paper will therefore, explore
communication from different contexts as given in the scenarios.
PAPER #1
Scenario 1:
From the first scenario, Justin chose the wrong way of communicating to Sarah. In fact,
that is against the rules of work in any organization. Taking to social media to express his
frustration was not going to help him feel any better nor was it going to help Sarah in the future.
The consequences of using social media to express frustrations are bad. For example, other
parties will understand that he does not have work ethics. Further, this only worsens his
relationship with Sarah because she will think that Justin decided to use social media to
embarrass her. A good communication channel in this situation would have solved the problem
amicably. Justin should have called Sarah to his office later after work and talked out about the
issue (Mackenzie, 2010). Through this, it would have been easy for Sarah to understand how she
is expected to conduct the process next time. The front office manager is supposed to be the one
to receive the communication between the two. Presenting the matter to the front office manager
after discussing the issue will be good as there will be an agreement between the two parties.
Scenario 2:
Jana may not receive the tone of the email in a right way. This is because of the use of
caps. In fact, chances are Jana will have the perception that Sean is commanding her and that he
does not respect her at all. She will feel that Sean is angry at her for not submitting the report
