In structural engineering batching is defined as the process of measuring ingredients such
as concrete in the acceptable and correct proportions to be used in construction (Gambhir, 2013).
The measurement process is done in two distinct ways namely by volume and by weight. The
measurement done by volume involves measuring ingredients by their volume. On the other
hand, ingredients such as concrete can be measured based on their weight. Thus, batching allows
for the correct proportions of concrete to be used in construction activities.
The concrete mix is reliable when the individuals responsible for construction apply the
batching process. Batching enables for the correct proportions of ingredients to be utilized and
hence making the concrete mix made from the ingredients to be reliable. Some of the other
ingredients that are measured through batching include cement and water. The cement utilized
