if a rectangle with a surface area of 200 square feet is divided into two squares, and one triangle has a surface area of 57 square feet, what is the area of the second triangle?

Oct 16th, 2017

area of rectangle = 200 sq feet = base * heigh

Area of triangle is 57 sq feet = 1/2 base * height = 1/2 * b * 10

base = (57*2)/10 = 11.4

area of second triangle is  = 1/2 base * height = 1/2 * 11.4 * 10   = 57  sq. feet  which is inside the first square

you dint specify ...the triangle is inside the rectangle or not....

just subtract   200sq ft - 57 sq ft which is equalt to 143 sq ft..... its not the area of second traingle...it should the remaining area of triangle....

i think ....there is some mistake in the question....

if i am wrong ...please correct me...

best of luck...!!
