(a) If the mass starts from rest at x = 0.0390 m and time t = 0, where is it at time t = 6.89 s?

Angular vel of shm = ω = 360º/3.15s = 114.3º/s 

Amplitude of shm .. a = 0.0390m

As the oscillation starts from max displacement (a), displacement x is given by

x = a cos(ωt) 

x = 0.0390 cos(114.3º/s x 6.89s)º 

x = 0.0390 cos 787.527º

x =  + 0.015 m

the mass moving in the positive x direction at t = 6.89 s
