I have been given 10, 50 and 90% of a distribution. From these numbers, how can I compute the mean and standard deviation?

Mar 31st, 2015

mean = (10+50+90)/3

         = 150/3

         = 50%

deviations from mean = (10-50), (50-50), (90-50)

                                    = -40%, 0%, 40%

square of deviations = 1600, 0, 1600

sum of square deviations (SSD)= 1600+0+1600 = 3200

standard deviation = sqrt(SSD/n)

                             = sqrt(3200/3)

                            = sqrt 1066.67

                            = 32.65 %
