Factors that Influence Quality, Safe and Patient-Centered Care
Introduction
The level of quality that can be expected from medical care is dependent on a wide
variety of aspects. Several distinct factors influence the provision of safe, patient-centred care
and significantly affect the quality of that care. Some of these factors include technology,
collaboration, communication, joint decision-making, and the laws, regulations, and policies that
are currently operational (Mosadeghrad, 2020). There are further considerations, such as
collaborative, shared, and shared decision-making. Because people are always looking for highquality services in every area of their day-to-day lives, quality has developed into an increasingly
significant component of our lives. In the realm of healthcare, this is hardly an exception. When
it comes to maintaining a competitive advantage in the field of healthcare delivery, quality is the
key differentiator (Mosadeghrad, 2020)
Technology
The healthcare system has been going through a period of transformation as a result of
advances in technology. Telemedicine, EHRs (electronic health records) and drug barcode
systems, for example, have substantially impacted how medical care is delivered (Hessels et al.,
2018). When it comes to providing patient care, it is now much easier because of the widespread
usage of electronic medical records, which are not only publicly available but also quickly
exchanged among different facilities (Hessels et al., 2018). More patients in remote areas may
now get healthcare because of advancements in telemedicine, and even patients who were
previously unable to leave their homes to see a doctor can now do so. Additionally, telemedicine
has made it possible for people living in remote places to obtain medical attention they otherwise
would not have had access to.
