can you please post the complete question? seems like something is missing here.
What is to be found out here? f(x) ?

 The linear function f with values f(-6) = 2 and f(2) = 5 is f(x) =

put in point slope form

Apr 1st, 2015
let the function be f(x) = ax + b

so, from f(-6) = 2 and f(2) = 5, we get

-6a + b = 2
2a + b =5

subtracting 2nd equation from the 1st we get

-6a + b -(2a +b) = 2 -5
-8a = -3
a =3/8

putting the value of a in 1st equation we get,

-6*(3/8) + b =2
-9/4 + b = 2
b = 2+9/4 = 17/4

so, f(x) = (3/8)x + (17/4)

there you go :) Please give me good reviews :)
