Description

For this task you will respond to nathan  ,but  also read  the original question How could having knowledge of building construction, general building design, and occupancy types impact code enforcement in your area? Name the three most common types of building construction in your jurisdiction, and briefly discuss what you think would be a code enforcement challenge with each.

Please respond to nathan  with 200 words

Where I live here in southeastern Idaho there are several older brick homes in established neighborhoods and towns there are also newer stick-built homes clogging up new subdivisions. There are also a fair share of mobile home and RV parks. While brick was much more prominent in the latter part of the 20th century most newer homes have masonry elements but are not fully brick. Many of the brick-built homes are older craftsman style homes that would have interior finished walls and either hardwood floors or plywood subfloors.

Contrast older homes to newer homes and the variety of building materials is astounding. Unfortunately, many of the new building products include glues and laminates that can rapidly deteriorate in fire conditions. Care should always be taken to test floors when entering a structure to make sure that the laminate flooring materials, subfloor materials, and floor joist have not been compromised by the heat.

Older mobile homes and most RV's or simply tin cans and the contents of those are rapidly consumed in the event of any fire. These fires should always be approached from a defensive posture and the use of piercing nozzles to cool the structure has proven to be very effective.

One of the possibly least recognized hazards associated with any building style or construction is metal roofing. Metal roofing can remain in place while the joists and rafters’ underneath have been destroyed by fire and metal roofing can prove to be a difficult material when attempting to ventilate a structure.

Keeping in mind the various types of construction and the inherent pluses and minuses from a fire prevention and fire suppression standpoint he is one of the tools that fireman can use to protect themselves on the active fire grounds.
