1) Find at least three areas in the Constitution which reflect ideas presented by Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson, known as the founding father of the constitution, was set out to
making sure that all Americans were treated equally and in the right manner by the governments
they elected. He contributed highly in the writing of the constitution and the declaration of
independence. Jefferson took a position that a bill of rights would help give the federal judiciary
a basis in which they could safeguard any violations of liberty by the other branches. In the
Declaration, Jefferson stated that ; “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of
Happiness (Jayne n.p)”. In the constitution, these rights are stated in the bill of rights to allow the
Judiciary to exercise its powers and ensure that it protects the people. The Judiciary was chosen
as it was highly believed that it could be a very important part of keeping the other governments
in check and hence protecting the people.
