A) How did technology & the lusty appetite for territorial expansion contribute to the emergence of the Confederation of Canada as an Atlantic to the Pacific state?

Apr 2nd, 2015

There are several circumstances that contributed to the western expansion of Canada. At a time when Canada's neighbor the United States were also moving west, the idea seemed very appealing. Several pieces of legislation ensured the growth of Canada and the acquisition of western territories. The Manitoba Act of 1870, the Yukon Territory Act of 1898 and the Alberta Act of 1905 are just a few examples. These acts allowed the Canadian population to expand westward from Nova Scotia to British Columbia. This expansion ensured power in size. Technology also played in important role. Canada was a Confederation with many technological advancements. By the end of the 19th century, many roads and canals had been constructed throughout the territories. As the Confederation moved westward, this technology opened the door for modern infrastructure and the urge to grow.
