CNL-501-O503 Substance Use Disorders And Addictions/Treatment Intervention
Substance use disorders can be treated using various treatment methods. This paper aims
to explore the various ways in which substance use disorders can be treated. Different treatment
methods use different approaches in treating substance use disorders, but all have unique ways of
achieving treatment goals.
Empirically Researched Substance Use Disorder Treatment Interventions: Brief Overview
Substance use disorders can be treated using different methods. Empirically researched
substance use disorder treatment methods are effective in treating these disorders because they
have been tested and have produced success in other patients (Barnett et al., 2018). Some
empirically researched treatment methods are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Matrix model,
supportive-expressive psychotherapy, Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA), and voucherbased reinforcement therapy (VBRT), among other treatment methods.
The main goal of these treatment methods is to help one regain control over substance use
and help them out of the problem. Most people with substance use disorders cannot control their
frequency of using substances despite seeing the negative impacts of the disorders on their bodies.
Substance use disorders negatively impact an individual's well-being, health, and relationships
(Barnett et al., 2018). Treatment helps one become a better individual in society. Treatment
addresses the cause of the disorder and helps one become sober again.
