Long ago, people dug holes and buried their waste and refuse. During that time, this
technique was effective due to the small population of the people, and hence the levels of waste
were small. Burying the waste prevented them from rodents, bugs and diseases caused by dirt.
The waste produced was biodegradable. However, today human beings produce enormous
