Your Assignment/Prompt: For this argument project, you will first choose a topic; remember, there has to be a problem in order for you to choose an issue. DO NOT choose a firebreathing topic (a highly controversial one). Also, try to have some previous knowledge that goes what you’ve read on Twitter or heard it from a friend. You should choose a topic that does not require you having to rely heavily on research. Try to choose a topic from the “Sample Topics” list found on Canvas. Next, state your position, analyze your audience, and finally structure your advertisement or essay. Prewriting – this proposal is in two parts. First, introduce in one or two sentences the problem you are addressing. Then propose a topic that you’re interested in. Include your position, and some reasons why you take that stance. Do not give me a mere background or summary of your issue. What are you trying to convince/persuade? Why? o The 2 nd portion of this assignment is an audience analysis.
