Explain the proposed structure of the national government that was laid out using the written philosophies of Montesquieu and Locke according to your textbook. What were the basic principles? What concepts did the 2 philosophers advocate for?

Montesquieu believed in seperation of power ( judicial, legislative and executive). He said that these three seperate powers will also be dependent on each other. He believed that by having three branches each one can have " checks and balances" on each other. By doing so the government can not overreach and become too powerful. The U.S constitution was influenced by him and he also believed in classes.

Locke believed in liberty and that natural law ( Gods law) is inherent in humans therefor we as people have rights that should never be subjugated. For example the right to life and liberty shall not be deterred. A govt should rule according to the will of the governed. In essence it isn't govt that should determine everything but rather its citizens. People makeup the govt and not the other way around. If a govt becomes tyranical than its citizens have every right to over throw said govt.
