y=5x+3

Apr 8th, 2015

y = 5x +3 is a linear equation.

To graph this equation easily, select three arbitrary values of x.  For example, x= 0, x= 2 and x= - 3

To find the y values , substitute each x value in the equation.

For example, when x=2,              y= 5 x 2 + 3 =13  so one pair is ( 2, 13 )

Other pairs are ( 0, 3) and (-3, -12)

Now you have three pairs.  Locate these three points ( pairs)  in x-y plane.  Connect these points and you have the required straight line graph of the equation y = 5x +3
