The sample has a mean of 19.6 mg and a standard deviation of 3,43mg. Use 0.05 significance level to test the claim that the mean tar content of filtered 100mm cigarettes is less than 21.1 mg

Ha: u > 21.1 mg

test statistic z:

z = (19.6 - 21.1) / 3.43/√25

= -2.1866

using table of z-scores for alpha=0.05 we get

P-value = 1.6449

Since -2.1866 < 1.6449  we REJECT the null hypothesis
