Question one: Important elements missing in the performance management process and
how to improve the process to boost morale and discipline
There are many elements which are missing in the performance management process
which usually makes it inefficient and this brings about an elements of unfairness amongst the
employees. The missing elements are not limited to: lack of feedback from the top official within
the management, focus on the process on productivity, poor and weak development structure, the
format which as used to weigh the performance and the leadership that could lead the process to
meet its success (Hutchinson, 2013)
In addition to that, the process of improving and conducting the appraisals frequently and
ensuring the feedback is delivered and treating of employees would further lead to the
improvement in the employee’s morale and discipline if and when they are conducted in a
transparent and consistent manner which does not show any sign of bias.
Question two: How the form contributes to errors and distortion and ways of revising it to
make it more effective.
The forms that the appraiser use may lead to errors and distortion if the appraiser leaves to
make any comment on the comment box or simply begins stating the ditto marks which may be a
sign of ambiguity. This may lead to the employees to view this as a sign of discrimination and
that their efforts are not being appreciated. In order to correct the errors that may arise, I would
first do revision on the forms by looking at the requirements that are required for the evaluation.
This would make it easy to check at the consistency with the organization’s goals and focus more
on the behavioral aspect of the individual that would appear to give a clear reflection of their
productivity in regards to the responsibilities which are allocated for fulfillment and undertaking.
