According to the International Labor Office (n.d), the issue of sexual harassment which is
a form of sex-based discrimination has become pervasiveness over the last few decades and has
had a significant financial impact. Sexual harassment has emerged as a growing concern both at
the national and international levels. For example, the recent #Metoo movement that made waves
throughout the US in 2017 was an indicator of the changing landscape in society and the fresh
focus that is put on sexual harassment in the workplace (Hentze and Tyus, 2021).
A look at our company policies shows that although the management has made efforts to
make the work environment friendly and conducive to productivity, it lacks the policy
framework that adequately and explicitly covers the issue of sexual harassment. As a result, the
firm lacks a legal or regulatory framework that dictates the behavior of its employees and
outlines proper conduct, what is expected, what is unacceptable, and how the organization
handles such cases. Further, even though members of the organizations know acceptable
behavior standards, the lack of this framework implies that the organization is not properly
equipped to address such challenges when they arise while employees who experience such
behaviors do not have the proper policies and procedures to protect them.
