Set up the proportion of wonks to yards:

8.2 wonks / 12.3 yards = x wonks / 30 yards   where x is the number of wonks we're looking for

Now cross multiply and solve:

12.3x = (30)(8.2)

12.3x = 246

x = 246/12.3 = 20 wonks
