a student titrates 10.00 mL of 0.200 M KOH using a buret of HNO3. If the initial reading on the buret is 14.35 mL and the final reading is 29.86 mL, what is the concentration of the HNO3? Show the balanced chemical equation

When situation is complete, M1 x V1 = M2 x V2 where M and V are Molarity and Volume.

Volume of HNO3 used = 29.86 - 14.35 = 15.51 ml

So 0.200 x 10.00 = M2 x 15.51

Therefore M2 = (0.200 x 10.00)/ ( 15.51)

                 M2 = 0.129

Answer Conc. Of HNO3 = 0.129 M


Balanced equation:   KOH + HNO3.  ------>.   KNO3 + H2O
