The wave of immigration that swept across the US in the 20th century brought a lot of
changes and impacts in the US society. Many laws were enacted as a result of this immigration
patterns. This was later to shape the way the US was to deal with the issue of immigration in the

immigration laws which affected the social and economic development in the US.
