Describe two challenges of using mathematical symbols in order to solve problems using formal logic and determine how you can overcome them.

Apr 11th, 2015

1. Formal logic symbols are not always and not for everyone - intuitive. It takes some practice and skills to transform logical statement(s) into regular language statement and vice verse. The only way to overcome this - to practice more and different types of logical statements including practicing with everyday situations and communication.

2.Formal logic uses strict predicates, which is  quite different from how we use language. In language we can use such things as sarcasm , intonation, recall to certain situations, etc. and there are no mathematical logical symbols in formal logic to represent those, neither there is/are algorithm(s)/rules to provide logical outcome to solve such problems.
