there is a .145 kg tennis ball moving at a speed of 11.0 m/s. The ball is struck by a racket, causing it to rebound in the opposite direction at a speed of 36.8 m/s. What is the magnitude of the change in the balls momentum?

momentum = mass x velocity

change in momentum = m1v1 - m2v2

= (0.145)(11.0 - (-36.8)) = (0.145)(47.8) = 6.93 kg-m/s
