Residency Make-Up Session Assignment – ITS832 Course Deliverable ITS832 – Information Technology in a Global Environment Conduct a literature review in Information Technology impact in a global economy Conduct a literature review on the global ramification of information technology and challenges faced by the organization using and developing information technology across the globe. You are to review the literature on Information Technology in a Global Environment and discuss problems and gaps that have been identified in the literature. You will expand on the issue and how researchers have attempted to examine that issue by collecting data – you are NOT collecting data, just reporting on how researchers did their collection. As you read the literature, it will become apparent that there are multiple issues, pick one issue that stands out in the literature. Format Cover: Include the names of those who participated in the project Table of contents: Use a Microsoft Enabled Table of Contents feature. Background: Describe the issue, discuss the problem, and elaborate on any previous attempts to examine that issue. Research Questions: In your identified problem area that you are discussing, what were the research questions that were asked? Methodology: What approach did the researcher use, qualitative, quantitative, survey, case study? Describe the population that was chosen. Data Analysis: What were some of the findings, for example, if there were any hypotheses asked, were they supported? Conclusions: What was the conclusion of any data collections, e.g., were research questions answered, were hypotheses supported? Discussion: Here you can expand on the research and what the big picture means, how do the results found in your literature review help organizations in the Information Technology global planning areas. What do you see as long-term impacts and what further research could be done in the field? References: Include at least ten scholarly references in APA format. BACKGROUND
➢ Information technology can be defined as anything that relates to computer technology.
➢ It includes the hardware, software, the internet, and the people using these
components.
➢ Since the early years of the 20th century information technology has slowly
commanded positive reception amongst people and entities.

➢ Today it is one of the most exciting developments of the industrial revolution.
➢ It has influenced how people think and communicates and even behave.
➢ Information technology has been crucial in helping many multinational companies go
global because it provides the platform for internet marketing to reach the masses and
target specific markets.

BACKGROUND

Information technology is not just a means for communication for these companies but is also
involved in the processes of manufacturing the goods themselves.

Most companies today cannot survive without technology.

Recognizably, today companies and business corporations have increased their utilization of
technology for their activities.

Research studies have shown that the use of technology often results in economic gains for
companies because of the improved productivity, management capabilities, and competitive
advantages that they gain over other firms in similar lines of business.

However, other studies also display some downsides to adopting technology in companies.

Research Question
What is the relationship between the use of information technology
and the performance of business organizations?
Hypotheses

H1- Information technology has a significant impact on
the structure of business firms.
H2- Information technology has a significant impact on
the performance of business firms

METHODOLOGY
➢ A study focusing on Consultant Engineers Firms fought to determine the impact of technology
on the performance of these companies.
➢ The respondents of the study were the owners, general executive managers, and expert
consultant engineers of the firms in Tehran who volunteered to undertake the study (Farhanghi
et al., 2013).
➢ Data collection entailed a survey that used questionnaires to reach out to two hundred and fifty
participants.
➢ Of those participants, 242 submitted their answers that were used for data collection in the
study.

METHODOLOGY

➢ The majority of these participants were male, accounting for 82.8%.
➢ The average age for the participants was between 20 and 29 years with these

individuals accounting for 43.9% of the total sample population.
➢ The questionnaire consisted of six items adopted from previous research.
➢ All the items were measured on the five-point Likert scale ranging from
strongly disagree (1) to strongly agree (5).

DATA ANALYSIS
➢ The study targeted to investigate the relationship between

information technology, business firm structure, and performance
(Farhanghi et al., 2013).
➢ The empirical results were in support of the hypotheses stated

earlier that information technology is a critical factor in the
structure of organizations and their performance.
➢ The findings show that information technology enables businesses to

be more flexible in uncertain environments.
➢ It also enables them to be more open to learning best practices.
➢ The fear that the business could fail in the face of unclear threats is

usually eliminated through data management and prediction
practices made possible through technology.

DATA ANALYSIS

Information Technology makes businesses more willing to
engage in high risks with great returns because of the belief
that the predicted outcomes will become true.

Information technology makes businesses wield proper control
and engage in satisfactory communication.

IT makes it very possible for companies to handle big data with
minimal threats of failing to deliver on their promises.

IT is responsible for providing the best possible communication
path because of the interlinking of computers across the world
through the internet and social media platforms.

As per the findings, the use of advanced information
technology by the firm led to a higher market share.

DATA ANALYSIS

Similarly, the use of technology seemed to have a
significant influence on the level of customer
satisfaction.

In this study, it was noted that the consultant engineering
firm must choose an appropriate IT infrastructure to
ensure improved firm performance by keeping the clients
happy.

Poor execution of the technology can result in a decline
in an organization’s performance in the short and long
term.

CONCLUSION

The study acknowledges that technology is crucial in the structure and
performance of any organization.

The findings indicate that the impact of information technology entirely
affects how they are run and the nature of IT system chosen also
translates to different satisfaction levels for the clients.

Because the objective of an organization like Consultant Engineering Firm
is to keep growing, which requires consistent positive returns on
investment, technology is crucial to ensure that becomes possible.

The utilization of technology can also result in improved performance by
enabling communication between the company and its clients and
suppliers globally

DISCUSSION: Benefits of IT on Organizational Governance

Information technology makes that possible through the predictive models
that make use of a series of data to create projections for the future.

Awamleh & Ertugan, (2021) note that information technology
infrastructure is critical in the creation of a conducive organizational
environment for carrying out i...
