Ethical Concerns
Finally, respond to the following short answer prompt: Imagine you are a lead social science researcher and are responsible for approving students' proposed research studies. Review the three sample proposals below and provide brief feedback to summarize any ethical concerns you have related to each of the proposals, based on what you know about ethical codes and expectations in the social sciences.Proposal 1: Racial Predisposition – The aim of this study is to examine the direct link between biological race and violent criminal activity. In this study, I plan to prove the direct and positive correlation between biological race and incidence of committing violent crimes. This will then prove that race is the strongest indicator of tendency toward violent crimes.Proposal 2: Electroshock Therapy – In this study, I will examine the effect of electroshock therapy on undesirable behavior in human subjects. This study will administer electrical shocks to human subjects as a disciplinary measure when undesirable behavior is observed. The goal of the study is to determine whether the electroshock therapy is a suitable treatment for resolving disciplinary issues in preteens and adolescents. If this therapy is found to be effective, it will be prescribed to resolve disciplinary issues in preteens and adolescents.Proposal 3: Health Problems, Diet, and Socioeconomic Status – This study aims to examine the relationship between health problems (diabetes, heart disease, and obesity), diet, and socioeconomic status. It is proposed that people of lower socioeconomic status are more likely to encounter these problems. Research will be conducted on human subjects where data are collected on diet (the types of food consumed along with money spent on food), and this will be related to the overall health of individuals in the study. The results and findings of this research will be published publicly so others can see the risks of consuming cheap, low-quality food.To complete this activity, review the 2-2 Short Answer Rubric document.Attachments

REPLY TO
There are many important aspects to counseling and counselor dispositions. Empathy is one that is essential to mental health counseling as well as addiction counseling. Many people who struggle with substance use disorders and addictions experience a good amount of scrutiny from the world and those that they are close to. Humans are often quick to judge an individual’s behavior and that shame than an addict feels can often feed their habit and it becomes a cycle of negative behaviors. A great technique in addiction counseling is motivational interviewing, and a foundation of motivational interviewing is empathy. Empathetic counselors demonstrate understanding for what the client is experiencing. Empathy portrays acceptance and that the counselor does not judge the client (Capuzzi and Stauffer, 2016). The communicative skill of empathy can help a client feel safe to share and motivated to make changes for themselves rather than for others.
In challenging a client, it is important to pose challenges on their values and the behavior either supporting or contradicting those values. This a part of motivational interviewing and can be done through active listening and reflection (Capuzzi and Stauffer, 2016). The counselor doesn’t immediately contradict what the client is saying, but instead summarizes and encourages the client to reflect on the behavior and values. From this process, the client experiences cognitive dissonance and the need to resolve that internal contradiction. Once the client has stated their desire to change the behaviors and recognizes which behaviors should be remedied, the counselor and client can brainstorm what possible options there are for treatment and resources.

discourse communities, assignment help
**Please read the guidelines carefully! **For each of the following two questions, write 200-250 words response. Be sure to include textual evidence from reading. Be thorough and organized in your answer. Do not simply talk about the question—but make sure that you provide a clear answer with plenty of support from the readings. ***Use the word document (which I wrote) to answer question 1 ***Take the main points from the three articles and use it to answer question 2 The questions: 1. We have discussed discourse communities (specifically we discussed the college and workplace) and how to gain access into these communities. Think about these discourse communities and explain the process by which someone becomes an "insider." Also, discuss who the "gatekeepers" might be within the college community and what this class has taught you about getting through those "gates." 2. What impact has this class had on you as a writer? Choose three different readings/concepts discussed in class that have made you think differently about writing persuasively. Moving forward, what is the biggest lesson you will take with you concerning the social nature of language and argumentation as you move beyond the college?
