Among the first notable changes is an increase in the number of general diagnostic
classes of mental disorders. The previous number was 16 which then increased to 21. The
increase can be attributed to some of the disorders that had little to do with each other hence
needed a separation. Another change was that the childhood bipolar disorder was removed and
replaced with Disruptive Mood Dysregulation. This was due to over diagnosis and overtreatment
of the former that was quite harmful to children. It is not that these two disorders are similar, but
that a chance for an accurate diagnosis has been provided in DSM-5 for a specific set of
symptoms. In relation to schizophrenia, some of the subtypes such as paranoid, disorganized,
catatonic and undifferentiated were removed. This was attributed to the ability for them to be
diagnosed in a stable fashion, low reliability and inability to accurately validate (RodríguezTestal, Senín-Calderón, & Perona-Garcelán, 2014).

Tutor went the extra mile to help me with this essay. Citations were a bit shaky but I appreciated how well he handled APA styles and how ok he was to change them even though I didnt specify. Got a B+ which is believable and acceptable.
