Homework #3 1. Using the information in problem #2 of homework #2, plus a kinetic friction coefficient k = 0.2 between the rocket and launch rail, develop a simulation program in Excel which describes the entire flight trajectory of that rocket, i.e. x (horizontal displacement) and y (vertical displacement) vs. time history, if it is launched on a launch rail which is one meter long and aligned at an elevation angle of 70° from the horizontal plane. As before, you should assume constant gravitational acceleration, a particle model for the rocket and thrust in the direction of velocity. Air resistance is NOT negligible through out the entire flight, i.e. from ignition (t = 0) till it lands, and can be represented by a second order model, cv?, in which v is the speed of this rocket. 2. Same as problem #1 above except the rocket's trust force is given by T = t ) Newtons, in which time t = 0 at the instant of ignition. Notes: This is an individual, not a team, assignment. Each student should submit his/her own solution. The submittal deadline is the beginning of class on Thursday, October 12. You just need to summarize the results of your computer simulations in the hard (paper) copy of your homework and there is no need to include any printout of simulation software.
