Does the force of friction depend on the type of surface that are rubbing together? Explain your answer by referencing your lab results.

yes it does. Depending on your lab results, the rougher surfaces should have a larger friction and the smoother surfaces should have a smaller friction.

Sand is placed on icy streets and sidewalks as a protection, incase people slip on the ice, snad is used to increase the friction.
