Trying to find out if I have the correct answer for two inversely x/ y problems

y varies inversely as x and y= 30 when x=5. Determine the value of y when x=25, Is the answer 6?

and 

y varies inversely as x and y= 3.5 when x=4. Determine the value of y when x=2. Is the answer 7?

1)   x + y = 30

if x = 5

5 + y = 30 

5 - 5 + y = 30 - 5

y = 25                      Answer

if x = 25

25 + y = 30

25 - 25 + y = 30 - 25

y = 5                       Answer

y = 6   is wrong.    y = 5    is right answer

2)  x + y = 3.5

if x = 4

4 + y = 3.5

4 - 4 + y = 3.5 - 4

y = - 0.5                     Answer

if x = 2

2 + y = 3.5

2 - 2 + y = 3.5 - 2

y = 1.5                   Answer       y = 7 is wrong.

Are these the inverse answers? On the second question, the instructor did not give 1.5 as an answer choice. The choices were 0.44, 1.75, 7 or 14. Not sure I used right formula to solve it: (x1, y1) = (x2, y2), (3.5, 4), (2. y), = 14/2 = 2. y= 7?

I apologize for wrong answers. sorry for late reply because of internet problem. The right answers are here with appropriate formulas of inverse function.

Question 1

Let,

x1 = 5

x2 = 25

y1 = 30

Find, y2 = ?

The formula is  x1y1 = x2y2

Putting values in the formula

       5 (30) = 25y

       y = (5 x 30) / 25

       y = 6

Hence, the value of y is "6"

Question 2

Let,

x1 = 4

y1 = 3.5

x2 = 2

y2 = ?

The formula is x1 y1 = x2 y2

Putting the values in the formula.

      4 (3.5) = 2y

       y = (3.5 x 4) / 2

        y = 7

Hence the value of y is "7".
