Origin of "Quinoa"
The Andean grain quinoa was first grown in Bolivia and Peru, close to Lake Titicaca.
Notwithstanding being such a staple meal at the moment, Quinoa was increased and utilized by
pre-Columbian cultures until being displaced by cereals with the entrance of the Spanish. Its
cultivation by the inhabitants of America may have taken place approximately 3,000 to 5,000
years before the present; Quinoa had advanced scientifically and became extensively dispersed
both inside and outside of Inca territories during the era of the invasion of the Spanish (Alandia
et al., 2021). Pedro de Valdivia, who observed the crops being grown near Concepción, became
the initial Spaniard to document the production of Quinoa. Garcilaso de la Vega mentions
Quinoa as one of the following grains domesticated on the planet, matching millet or short-grain
rice. He also describes the first delivery of embryos to Europe, which have been sadly dead
upon landing and incapable of germination, possibly due to the sea voyage's excessive
moisture. Quinoa was later noted to be grown in the Pasto and Quito mountains by Cieza de
León around 1560 (Bazile, 2021). Furthermore, Humboldt claims that Quinoa has traveled with
and followed the people of Cundinamarca since reaching Colombia. Pottery from the
Tiahuanaco civilization depicts an early example of the plant's appearance, showing a quinoa
plant having numerous spikelets across its stalk that could represent one of the more basic
variants of the species. Due to its genetic diversity, Quinoa is a logocentric organism with widely
dispersed origins and many diversifications. The Andean area, namely the Lake Titicaca
shoreline, has the widest genetic variety and variation levels. Due to human intervention and
domestication, Quinoa has experienced a variety of mechanical stimuli. These include a smaller
flower at the plant's apex, a larger stem and seed, a lack of seed dispersion systems, and a lot
of coloration (Alandia et al., 2021).
