The area of a circle = (pi)(r)^2

You have the area of the circle already. Wouldn't it be more like solving for the radius which I could do for you if you need.

Can you be my tutor

Apr 14th, 2015

but I do not now the radius

Apr 14th, 2015

Sure, I will help out as much as I can.

thanks

I don't know the radius and that's what i'm trying to figure out.

Apr 14th, 2015

To find the radius you would solve for r in the equation Area = (pi)(r)^2

Area = 2m^2 = (pi)(r)^2

2m^2/pi = r^2

Do a square root on both sides to undo exponent to get

r = square root (2m^2/pi)

So is that half of 3.14

Apr 14th, 2015

No, it's taking the square root of 2 divided by pi to get the length of the radius which turns out to be approximately .79788.

Apr 14th, 2015

I have no idea what square root is

Apr 14th, 2015

When taking the square root of a number you ask what number times itself will equal that number. For example, the square root of 9 is 3 because 3 X 3 = 9.
