In this week, you will need to write a plan to model the adaptation of curriculum for multicultural classrooms. If you do not currently teach, think about the curriculum with which you work, the curriculum in this course, or the curriculum in your current program of study. In your plan be sure to include:
A description an analysis of the current curriculum
A plan to adapt the curriculum to include all students and families
A discussion related to the impact of culture and language
What pitfalls will you consciously try to avoid?
What are your big ideas or enduring understandings?
How will you develop and assess multicultural curriculum in your area of expertise?
How will this adaptation improve achievement?
How important is the role of family and community?

Curriculum for multicultural classrooms
There are different groups of students in classrooms which call for a reason to adapt a
curriculum that will cover each of them. Differences in the classes may be caused by having
different language groups, tribes and cultures. Cultural differences are mostly seen to affect the
learning ability of children. Cultural diversity has in most cases led to discrimination thus
affecting the performance of students in classes (Banks, James, 2012). Given the fact that there
will be differences in cultures in classes, all the teaching staff and every other person working
within a school environment should adapt a curriculum that will be inclusive of all the students.
The paper is focused on the current curriculum in schools and the curriculum that should be
adapted in order to have successful multicultural classes.
The current curriculum is not fit for all the students within a classroom setting. This is
due to the fact that discrimination is given some room to grow where some students feel superior
to others. There are some students whose cultures are highly discriminated so that they feel in the
wrong place. Such students are affected emotionally and mentally so that their academic
performance is poor (Nieto & Bode, 2012). There are some teachers who feel that they should
favor only those students from their cultural groups and discriminate the others for being
different. The current curriculum does not have room for embracing diversity which makes it
hard for all the students to have an understanding that they are all equal. The curriculum is also
