b. (5t3 + t2)(2t – 4) = (5t3 + t2)' (2t – 4) + (5t3 + t2) (2t – 4)' = (15t2 + 2t)(2t – 4) + 2(5t3 + t2)

c. (x2 – 2x + 5)/x = [(x2 – 2x + 5)' x – (x2 – 2x + 5) x' ]/x2 = [(2x – 2) x – (x2 – 2x + 5) ]/x2

d. da/db = [(7 – 2b)3]' = 3(7 – 2b)2( – 2)

For #d:

a=(7-2b)^3

why do you use da/db and the [ ] ' symbols? When I type this in to try and solve this way I get error messages.

I was not sure what was the independent variable in d). If it were x as in the previous items, then the function a = (7 - 22)^3 is a constant and its derivative = 0. So, da/db means that the derivative is taken by the variable b. The symbol [..] ' also means a derivative but does not specify by what variable.
