Questions about the Capstone process and DPP template
After viewing the information on the capstone process and examining the DHS DPP Form [DOCX], what questions do you have as you prepare to move forward?
The case study company
has received the first report from its enterprise content management (ECM)
consultant and now has a documented list of major content requirements for the
organization. Knowing what content is needed provided some surprises, and there
is general agreement that this needs list was lacking. There is also general
agreement that it is important to understand how data are currently managed
before steps can be taken to improve ECM. Toward this end, the ECM consultant
has determined the next step to be an evaluation of the company’s current
information infrastructure and content management processes. A more detailed
list of required content and the tools used to manage this content will also
provide a solid foundation for future ECM planning. What information should be
included in this type of detailed evaluation?
Assignment
One of the first tasks in the development of
an enterprise content management manual is to evaluate the enterprise
information infrastructure and content management processes. The enterprise
information infrastructure and content management processes consist of the data
and how they are collected, managed, and stored throughout their life cycle.
For this assignment, you will conduct an
in-depth evaluation of the enterprise content management infrastructure and
content management processes in your selected organization. If the organization
already has an enterprise content management system and formal content
management procedures in place, you will document the existing system and
procedures. If there are currently no formal ECM system or content management
procedures in place, you will document the informal parts of the system that
exist.
The following are the project deliverables:
Update the Enterprise Content Management and
Data Governance Policies and Procedures Manual title page with a new date and
project name.
Update the previously completed sections based
on instructor feedback.
Information Infrastructure Evaluation
Content List
Provide a categorized list of the content used
for the major organizational processes.
Content Management Tools
Document the tools used to capture, manage,
store, preserve, and deliver the content.
Content Management Processes
Document the processes' flow of content through
the infrastructure.
Be sure to update your table of contents
before submission.
Name the document
"yourname_IT621_IP2.doc."
Worked Example
Please refer to the Worked Example below for
an example of this assignment based on the Problem-Based Learning Scenario. The
worked example is not intended to be a complete example of the assignment but
will illustrate the basic concepts required for completion of the assignment
and can be used as a general guideline for your own project. Your assignment
submission should be more detailed and specific and should reflect your own
approach to the assignment rather than just following the same outline provided
in the worked example.
Note that the worked example includes material
from previous worked examples. The new material will be found under the Week 2
sections of the Table of Contents.
The worked example is provided here to help
with this assignment.

Diversity and Race Assignment: How Jazz Musicians were affected by Diversity and Race Issues in American Society in the 20th Century.
Choose one of the following jazz artists/groups from the list below to research the way(s) in which race and/or diversity played a role in their interactions with American society in the earlier part of the 20th century (1900’s -1960’s.) This could include employment issues - performance opportunities, equal treatment, touring issues – hotels, travel options, etc.), criminal justice issues (cabaret cards, arrests, drug use-targeting of musicians and neighborhoods, etc.) and other societal issues of the day. Learn how they responded (or were forced to respond) to these issues and how they involved themselves in issues of civil rights and race and diversity discrimination. Discuss how they used their music or status in the entertainment industry to address these issues.
List of Jazz Artists/Groups who were affected by issues of Diversity and/or Race and some of the issues they dealt with. The list of issues are JUST suggestions of a place to start your research, you need find much more material on the artist you choose.

Fletcher Henderson – Black swing bands vs. White Swing Bands – opportunities, acceptance, Black composers/arrangers and White Swing Bands
Benny Goodman– segregation, Black and White musicians playing together
Billie Holiday – female jazz performer, “Strange Fruit”, cabaret card, drug issues
John Coltrane – “Alabama”, how he used his music to comment on Society

The Logic of Inference: The Science of Uncertainty
The Logic of Inference: The Science of UncertaintyDescribing and explaining social phenomena is a complex task. Box’s quote speaks to the point that it is a near impossible undertaking to fully explain such systems—physical or social—using a set of models. Yet even though these models contain some error, the models nevertheless assist with illuminating how the world works and advancing social change. The competent quantitative researcher understands the balance between making statements related to theoretical understanding of relationships and recognizing that our social systems are of such complexity that we will always have some error. The key, for the rigorous researcher, is recognizing and mitigating the error as much as possible. As a graduate student and consumer of research, you must recognize the error that might be present within your research and the research of others. To prepare for this Discussion: Search for and select a quantitative article that interests you and that has social change implications. As you read the article, reflect on George Box’s quote in the introduction for this Discussion. For additional support, review the Skill Builder: Independent and Dependent Variables.Post a very brief description (1–3 sentences) of the article you found and address the following:Describe how you think the research in the article is useful (e.g., what population is it helping? What problem is it solving?).Using Y=f(X) +E notation, identify the independent and dependent variables. How might the research models presented be wrong? What types of error might be present in the reported research?Be sure to support your Main Post and Response Post with reference to the Learning Resources and other scholarly evidence in APA Style.

Abstract
What is the problem? Be sure to narrow your problem enough to allow a focused examination.
What are the individual and social implications of this problem? Discussion of implications should be supported by accurate research data.
What do the experts say about the problem?
What have we, as a society, done about this problem? Consider public policies and other, less formal responses.
How are public policies and other, less formal responses working?
Describe an alternative solution to the problem.
Discuss why the alternative is, or can be, an effective response to the problem. Remember to consider negative consequences of the alternative response.
Conclude with your thoughts about your chosen social problem. This is a good place to include personal opinions, assuming you wish to share them in a research paper.

In short, define a problem, discuss the response, and provide alternative responses to the problem. For example, your problem could be drug use/abuse, with a focus on prescription drug abuse among teenagers. Your description of the problems should be fact based, relying on expert opinion. Your alternative response can be an adjustment of current policy or a new direction. For example, you may propose longer prison sentences, or legalization of all drugs. Be creative, although suggestions must be supported by scholarly research. The paper must be eight to ten pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style. You must use at least five scholarly resources, at least three of which can be found in the Ashford Online Library, to support your claims and sub-claims.
