use the function h(t)=-16t+vt+h0 to determine how long the rocket is out of sight

So we're looking for h(t) > 1000  because the rocket is out of sight when it is about the cloud

Assume h0 = 0

Then,

-16t^2 + vt > 1000

-16t^2 + 315t - 1000 > 0

Use quadratic formula to get

t = 3.98 s

t = 15.71 s

So then, the rocket is out of sight for

15.71 - 3.98 = 11.7 s
