1. Spindle fibers form a protein like structure which divides the genetic material in a cell.
These form early in cell division or mitosis. They consist of microtubules which come from
centrioles. Spindle fibers are important as they provide a framework as well as a means of
attachment which keep chromosomes organized, assorted and aligned through the entire
process of cell division. This therefore, lessens the occurrence of daughter cells or aneuploidy
with sets of chromosomes that are incomplete.
2. Information in a DNA is stored in a code form that is made of four chemical bases, these
are; cytosine (C), thymine (T), adenine (A0, and guanine (G). The two base pairs of a DNA
found in nature are; A-T (adenine-thymine) and (G-C) guanine-cytosine.
4. Crossing over is a genetic process where two homologous pairs of chromosomes exchange
equal segments with each other (Alberts, Johnson & Walter, 2016). This process occurs at the
first cell division in meiosis, a stage where each chromosome is replicated into two strands
referred to as sister chromatids. Crossing over is important to meiosis as it allows the
recombination of genes thus ensuring genetic variation in sexually reproducing organisms.
5. Mitosis occurs in both sexually and asexually reproducing organisms in the somatic cells
of a body and the cells are divided only once. On the other hand meiosis occurs only in
