if the graph of an expontial function passes through the points (1,60) and 3,540, find an equation of the function

Exponential functions are, for example, y=x^3, y=x^4, etc.

3^x = (540-60), since 1 to any exponent is 1, then in order to obtain 60, we just add 60 to the equation, but we are looking for an exponent of 3 to give us 540-60

3^x = 480

log 3^x = log (480) (take log of both sides)

x log 3 = log 480 (bring down x, law of logs)

x = log 480/log 3 (solve for x)

x = 5.619 approx. 5.62

y = x^(5.62) + 60

That stand for (power to), since I don't have the superscript key on my computer. Do you know when you see parabola equation and it says y= x^2 (y equals x squared?).  ^ is my shortcut for (raised to the power).

Just like x^3 (x raised to the 3rd power), I do not have access to special math symbols on my computer such as "squared", "cubed" "square root" or "cube root". My computer is old and every time I try to add math add-ins, they never work. I guess my computer is too old.
