Critical Thinking
A vegetarian is someone who lives on diets that do not consist of any animal products.
There is a number of reasons that make people choose to be vegetarians, they could be ethical
reasons in support of animal rights, environmental protection and also religious or spiritual
affiliations. In this paper, we will be critically analyzing whether people should be vegetarians.
In my opinion vegetarian diet is not a healthy practice that people should integrate in their
daily lives. This is because there is a cycle of life where animal population is regulated by hunting
game for food. The idea that animals should not be slaughtered for food is neither saving the
environment nor preserving animal’s rights since it’s a predetermined cycle for the survival of
both human beings and animals on earth (Tonstad, Butler et al, 2009). Religious believes do not
specifically prohibit the consumption of all types of animal products apart from a few of identified
animals in both the Koran and the Bible. Thus, human beings were created in the presence of
animals so that they can supplement our diets and we can ensure they exist in safe environments
so that they can reproduce and supplement the cycle of human survival.
