With the need to improve the performance of organizations, managers are adopting the
strategy of using employees to work as a team to make work more effective. Working as a team
has many advantages as it ensures that there is collaboration as well as innovation from the ideas
of the team members. This paper, therefore, seeks to explore the concept of teamwork in an
organization as well as examining the steps which ought to be followed to ensure a group is
viable in carrying out its activities in an organization.
Teamwork is very paramount in any organization. In fact, study shows that companies
which employ the practice of utilizing teamwork perform better in their daily activities which
lead to the achievement of the set goals and objectives. The two teams that I worked with are the
catering and hotel teams. The two teams were worth as it emerged when I started working with
them. For instance, the teams were organized, and every team member knew exactly what was
expected of them. As a result, there was greater value from working with the teams. Ideally, the
essence of working as a team is to coordinate efforts to achieve the laid down goals and
objectives of the organization (Salas, Bowers, & Edens, 2001). Working with the teams was
important as it brought some aspect of efficiency where it became easy to complete tasks within
the set period. Additionally, it is easy to delegate responsibilities while working with the two
